Dr. Matthew Welch joined Associated Retina Consultants in 2014 as an adult and pediatric vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in intraocular tumor disease and secondary intraocular lens surgery. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist, director of the ARC vitreoretinal fellowship program, and an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine-Phoenix.

He has participated and continues to be an investigator in numerous national clinical trials. He has been recognized for his outstanding clinical service by Loyola University Health Systems having received the MAGIS Star award. He holds memberships with several professional organizations, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Welch is a senior board member of the Arizona Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and an advisory committee member for the Innovation Care Partners physician organization. He has and continues to serve on a number of committees for the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology with a primary focus on legislative issues. Additionally, Dr. Welch serves on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals.

In his spare time, he can be found enjoying the many outdoor activities in the Phoenix area with his family.
