Diabetic Eye Exam Frequency

Diabetic Eye Exam.jpgIf you’re diabetic, you may be wondering if you need more frequent eye exams.  Since vision loss and blindness is a common side effect of diabetes, your concern is valid.

Patients with diabetes or even those who are pre-diabetic may want to see their eye care professional at least once a year and should see their eye doctor immediately if any of the following symptoms develop:

  • Blurry vision
  • Seeing double
  • Pain around the eyes
  • Pressure in or around the eyes
  • Seeing floaters or spots
  • Straight lines no longer appear straight
